Comments:

Syracuse met Tulsa in the NIT Finals played at Madison Square Garden. Tulsa led 48-42 at the end of the first half, but the Orangemen would tie the game up 82-82 to send it into overtime. Tulsa would outscore the Orangemen 4-2 in the overtime period to win the NIT Championship 86-84.

Syracuse had significant foul trouble in the game with three players fouling out, including Danny Schayes with only 21 minutes of playing time. The fouls were unbalanced as the Orangemen had 31 fouls compared to the 19 for Tulsa.

Tulsa's Greg Stewart was named the game MVP.
