LaSean Howard was a swingman for Syracuse basketball for two seasons.

Howard came to Syracuse with a talented class that included Jason Hart, Etan Thomas, Ramel Lloyd, and had upper classmen entrenched in starting positions. He would find it tough to get playing time his freshman year, but still played about ten minutes a game. He struggled a lot with his shooting, particularly from the free throw line which made it difficult to have him on the court in tight situations.

More players joined the team Howard's sophomore season, and few had left the squad. As a result, Howard saw significantly less playing time his sophomore season. Disappointed, he would transfer to Long Beach State following Ramel Lloyd who had left after the previous season, and joining former Syracuse assistant coach Wayne Morgan. Howard would redshirt a season at Long Beach State, but then decided to transfer to Hampton University. [1]

Howard would be a significant contributor at Hampton, though not always a starter. His senior season he helped the Pirates upset #2 seed Iowa State 58-57 in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It was only the fourth time a #15 seed had upset a #2 seed. Iowa State led 55-44 with eight minutes left in the game, but Hampton would outscore the Cyclones 14-2 down the stretch, including shutting Iowa State out for the last 7:01 minutes of the game to win by one as Tarvis Williams hit a four footer with 6.9 seconds remaining. Howard would score 10 points in the victory
