Chuck Wichman scored only 139 points in three seasons with Syracuse, but the forward made two very memorable shots in his career. Wichman was a light forward but extremely quick, earning him a nickname Chuck Wichman Syracuse Orangemen Basketball'Quickman' Wichman.

Wichman played forward with a reckless abandon, and was excellent at one-on-one basketball. On the freshman team, he scored 13.7 points per game, shot 88% from the free throw line and 59% from the floor. He also averaged nearly seven rebounds per game (6.8).

On the varsity Wichman would never be a starter. However, his sophomore year, he helped propel Syracuse to the NIT tournament when he made a last second jump shot to beat Niagara 60-59 on the last game of the regular season, prompting fans to say 'Wich Way to the NIT'

His junior year, Wichman pulled off similar heroics against Fordham. With Syracuse down by one, Wichman dribble the ball from mid court , down the right side of the lane and put in the short jumper for a 90-89 overtime win.

Wichman's career game high would only be six points, but two of his baskets were memorable to the Orange faithful.
