Bob Kouwe was a forward for Syracuse basketball for three seasons. Kouwe was a solid defender and had a decent mid-range jump shot.

Bob Kouwe Syracuse BasketballKouwe was part of the regular substitution pattern his sophomore season. He missed a few games early in the year due to a knee injury.

He would start the first game of his junior season, a lopsided win over George Washington. He would resume his role as a top reserve, when Wayne Ward moved back into the starting lineup the next game. Kouwe would violate some team rules in January and would be suspended for the remainder of the season.

Kouwe would be re-instated to the team for his senior year, and would start all 25 games. Kouwe was the only senior on a young team, and the squad struggled that year under first year head coach Roy Danforth. Kouwe would score a career high 28 points in a loss to Connecticut, and 27 points in a win over rival Colgate.

Kouwe was an avid golfer, and would win some golf tournaments following graduation. He had lettered in golf at Syracuse in 1967 and 1969.

Kouwe's nephew, Andrew Kouwe, was a walk-on for Syracuse from 2001-2004.
