Mike Jones was a tall shooting forward from South Carolina who played one semester of basketball for Syracuse.

Jones played varsity basketball at Lower Richland High School and led them to a combined 74-10 record. He was three times named the South Carolina 4A Player of the Year, and was South Carolina's Mr. Basketball his senior season.

Jones sat behind senior DeMetris Nichols at the beginning of his freshman season, and suffered a minor hip injury also limiting his playing time. Frustrated with lack of playing time and wanting to be closer to home, Jones quit the team at the end of the semester transferring to South Carolina. However after one semester at South Carolina he was declared academically ineligible and removed from the school. He transferred to Indian Hills Community College in Centreville, IA.
