Walt Davey was a speedy guard for Syracuse for three seasons. He was an outstanding all-around athlete participating in both football and basketball at Syracuse.

Davey attended Dickinson Seminary in Williamsport, PA after completing high school. He would play forward for the Dickinson basketball team, quarterback for the football team and ran the hurdles for the track team.

Upon coming to Syracuse, Davey would tryout and earn positions on both the football and basketball team. He would be the backup quarterback on the football team. He would play two games for the varsity his sophomore season (against Penn and Colgate), before his parents forced him to resign from the team.

Davey decided not to play football his junior season, to avoid injury and focus on playing basketball. In the last game of his junior season against Colgate, Davey was so physically punished by the Maroon players, that he could not finish the game. Davey would be named captain of the basketball team for his senior season, and he helped the Orangemen to an 11-3 record.
