Rudy Cosentino was a reserve guard and occasional starter for the Syracuse basketball team for one year. He was a gifted athlete and was a starting fullback on the varsity football team, lettering in 1944.

Rudy Cosentino Syracuse Orangemen BasketballCosentino would be drafted by Army following the 1945 football season, and would enroll at West Point. He would be a star fullback at West Point, nicknamed 'Roaring Rudy'. He would also play a year of soccer for the Military Academy.

Cosentino would graduate from West Point in 1949.

He had teamed with fellow Orangemen Reaves Baysinger Jr. at the Staunton Military Academy, and together they won the Virginia Military Academy football championship in 1943. Cosentino served in the Army from 1949 to 1953. He would play for the Syracuse Stars semi-pro football team in the mid 1950s.
