Maury Youmans was a star right tackle and defensive end on the 1959 Syracuse National Champion football team. He was a key component in opening running lanes for Ernie Davis as the team ran to the title.
Youmans was a reserve center on the basketball team while at Syracuse for two seasons.

Youmans was a 9th round pick of the Chicago Bears in 1960. He would play three seasons with the Bears and two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
Maury and his brother Gary, also a player on the 1959 Championship team, have co-authored a book on that Orangeman team, along with another book about the 1963 championship Chicago Bears team.
