Mike Williams was a star wide receiver for Syracuse Football, and a walk on for the basketball team his sophomore season.
Williams joined the basketball team his sophomore season to help provide some depth on a Syracuse squad devasted by injuries. He would score 7 points in his college debut against Middle Tennessee State. He would leave the team a few games later to focus on basketball (and to avoid injury).
Williams was the top receiver on the football team. His freshman year he led the team in receptions. He was significantly better his sophomore season, tying the Syracuse season record for receptions with 60. He was named the football team MVP that season, along with earning second team All-Big East football honors.
