The Syracuse Orange and Old Dominion Monarchs first met in 1977 in the ECAC playoffs. The Orangemen won a tight game 67-64 behind Larry Kelley's 18 points.
The two teams split a home and home series in 1980 and 1981. ODU upset the #25 ranked Orange 68-62 in the Carrier Dome in 2018, as the Monarch's B.J. Stith led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
