The Syracuse Orangemen and Mississippi State Bulldogs have met three times. The first time was in 1977, with Syracuse winning 77-66. The two teams would not meet again for 19 years until the 1996 NCAA Final Four. The Orangemen would win that game 77-69 behind John Wallace's 21 pts.
