The Syracuse Orange and California Bears basketball teams first met in 2009. The two teams would meet four times over a five year period in different tournaments, with the Orange winning three of four games.
Cal joined the ACC starting with the 2024-2025 season. Syracuse would beat Cal in double overtime in February 2026. Former Orange player Chris Bell scored 18 in the game,
