Avery Gannett was one of the members of the first varsity basketball teams at Syracuse. Gannett would start the first varsity game for Syracuse, and play in one more as a reserve. He had played on the Syracuse club team the previous season.
Gannett would graduate from Syracuse University in June 1901. He would be a florist in Geneva, NY starting that year.
